RE: Tow Dolly Stearing

*Don't* lock the toad's wheel. Whatever that may take, don't lock that. No matter how the dolly may move underneath your toad's steer-axle, it will move the steering a little. Or if it can't it will beat the stuffing out of the parts that hold the toad's steering lock. One of those parts is usually a cast-metal housing that carries the ignition-lock, etc.--the first thing between the wheel & the dash that doesn't move when you turn the wheel. It isn't easy or cheap to replace that part if you break it, and locking the steering while up on a tow-dolly is a way to break that part. :? My Demco Kar Kaddy manual says to "Engage towed vehicle parking brake. Shift loaded car into "park" and lock steering wheel with front tires in a straight position. If the car does not have a locking steering column the steering wheel must be tied securely with front tires in a straight position." I have towed my Malibu Maxx over 20,000 miles this way.

RE: 50 AMP surge protectors

I used the portable 50 amp Surge Guard for a year before I mounted it in compartment. Our RV has a Auto Transfer switch. Power cord is wired to transfer switch with a plug on end of 30' cord. Finally decided to mount inside for convenience. Cut cord and installed a male plug on RV end and a female plug on cord. Made a couple of U shaped brackets to set Surge Guard in. Used 2 bungee straps to hold unit in brackets. Unless you have a spare cord it is not easy to put unit in basement compartment in some applications.

RE: Diesel Fuel Additive for Winter - Needed?

Around here, winter blend fuel should be arriving soon. I buy fresh fuel in the winter, and use no additives. The winter blend at the station I normally use says the cloud point is 18 below zero F. The Dodge CTD doesn't get used much in the winter, but when I have needed it, no problems. The Liberty CRD gets used every day. Again, no problems. No additives, just winter blend fuel. I do, however, use Sta-Bil in all the gasoline systems; boat, lawn tractors, Ford tractor, pumps, weed whacker, etc. On our way back from a camping trip last week. Stopped to top off tank. Their signs stated they already had winter blend. Unfortunately only needed 15 gallons in a 80 gallon tank.:(

RE: Macerator pump

Well I wound up pumping 150 feet. No problem. Pump was only warm to the touch after doing 3 40 Gal. tanks. Glad I bought it. Sure beats hauling stuff in a wheeled tank. George Did you have to get the special 3/4 fittings mentioned above?

RE: Diesel Fuel Additive for Winter - Needed?

I use Power Service in tank every fall. Need engine to start when we leave for warmer weather in January. Pickup it up at Wal-Mart.

RE: Help with IOTA converter charger in my Jayco Greyhawk

Unless I missed something you need a IOTA DLS** IQ4 to have multiple stage charging.

RE: Natchez Trace worth the trip?

We drove over 200 miles of the Trace in January. Plan to pick it up near Nashville to Jackson. We were not able to get a map of the Trace. This limited finding many of the sites. Try to get a map or print out info from the site linked above.

RE: Digital TV setup

Your TV antenna should work OK with digital TV. The specs on your TV's should have ATSC signal as one of it's inputs to be digital TV compatible.

RE: Want to use 2 Laptops

Check out 3G Store. Click on the model card you have for recommendations to fit your card. I have experienced how well the Kyocera KR2 EVDO Router works. It's on my list after current contract is up.

RE: SurgeGuard Tripping Out?

I had a similar problem with my home 50 circuit. Turned out to be a loose connection on one of the line legs. I would suspect that one leg of parks service is bad.

RE: winnebago 2008 aspect - dining table

Time to talk to dealer,s service department. May require a call to Winnebago. We went to a RV show Wednesday. One of the units we looked at was a Aspect. Did not notice that table was unstable.

RE: Brochures, Maps, Fliers--what do you save?

We used to save everything. Got to be so much that I did a major clean job of all the books, maps and brochures. Now down to a Next exit, Woodalls, Passport American and Wal-Mart map book. Use the computer for all the other stuff. GPS has all the POI that we need.
